Therapies

I work integratively; offering a combination of different therapies

Ripple in a lake

I use an integrative approach to therapy; ensuring that all of my clients receive treatment to suit their individual needs.

Using a powerful combination of Hypnotherapy, Psychotherapy, Counselling, NLP and CBT, I can help you make the changes you desire.

Your presenting problem and how it's affecting your life will determine which therapies are used in each session.

For example, Hypnotherapy, NLP and CBT are often the main therapies used when treating fears and phobias. For more deeply rooted problems, Counselling and Psychotherapy skills play an important role in therapy sesions.

Most sessions will include a combination of all the therapies listed below.

Hypnotherapy

Have you ever been so engrossed in a book or TV programme that you were unaware that somebody was talking to you? Or perhaps you've experienced being on a train in a daze, only to realise you've missed your stop? If so, you've already experienced being in a state of hypnosis.

Hypnosis is a completely natural and safe state of mind that we all enter in and out of throughout our day. Hypnotherapy is the use of therapeutic techniques when a person is in a state of hypnosis. This is because in a state of hypnosis it is possible to access the subconscious mind, where deep rooted problems can be discovered, challenged and most importantly, healed.

Most people who are considering Hypnotherapy are interested to know what it will feel like to be hypnotised. It can be an extremely relaxing, pleasant experience and more often than not people describe the feeling as being similar to that of simply relaxing deeply.

Hypnosis is an altered state of awareness and is not the same as sleep, although the eyes tend to be closed. There is no form of unconsciousness and you will remain in control at all times. People in hypnosis are still completely aware of their surroundings and are able to leave the hypnotic state whenever they want to.

Psychotherapy

Psychotherapy is a talking based therapy which uses a range of different techniques to help increase emotional wellbeing. It is a process that allows clients to achieve a deeper understanding of themselves.

Therapists work with their cients in a mutually trusting and understanding relationship, helping them to explore their emotions and behaviours and thus helping them to gain a greater understanding of why they feel and act as they do.

In Integrative Therapy the use of Psychotherapy skills enables clients to gain a greater understanding of themselves and their problems, which is vital when wanting to improve emotional wellbeing. The relationship with your therapist can be one of the most important you will ever encounter and so for this reason it is important to me that my clients feel comfortable exploring deeper aspects of themselves, freely and openly.

Counselling

Counselling is a talking based therapy which allows clients to explore their feelings freely, in a private and confidential setting. By listening attentively, therapists can begin to understand things from their client's point of view and help them to see things more clearly and perhaps from a different perspective.

Clients are able to talk openly about their feelings and are free to explore various aspects of their life without feeling as though they are being judged. Counselling does not involve giving advice or telling the client what to do, but rather focuses on aiding the client in coming to their own conclusions and making their own decisions.

Counselling allows clients to have a greater understanding of their presenting problem and with the therapist's help, can overcome them.

NLP

NLP stands for Neuro-Linguistic-Programming and is a therapy based on using specific techniques to help alter thinking patterns, communicate more effectively and change internal programming to achieve success in all areas of life.

It is a highly effective form of coaching, which requires taking action, and is usually short term, with some ailments being treated in just one session. The techniques used are extremely effective in giving clients the power to think in more positive ways and achieve their goals. There are many powerful NLP techniques that I use with clients, in and out of hypnosis, and also teach to my clients; giving them back their control and helping them to feel empowered.

CBT

CBT stands for Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and is based on the philosophy that our cognitions (thoughts) affect our beahviour. Using various different CBT techniques it is possible to change thoughts and therefore change behaviours. CBT focuses on the present moment and focuses more on how we are thinking, rather than how we are feeling. Combined with other therapies, such as Hypnotherapy and Counselling, CBT can help many people overcome their difficulties quickly and easily.
